Samsung launches Galaxy S4 countdown timer

Samsung Galaxy S4 launch is just Episode 1 of Unpacked 2013

Samsung Galaxy S4 countdown timer

Samsung is less than a week from launching its Galaxy S4 smartphone and has started a countdown timer to the event. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S4 launch: live coverage.

Just like how HTC counted down to its HTC One smartphone launch recently, Samsung has started a countdown timer to its Galaxy S4 launch event. The clock, found by retailer Clove, is on Samsung's training page rather than where the public can see it. See also: Samsung Galaxy S4 screenshots show new TouchWiz interface.

As you can see from the screenshot, the time says all the Galaxy marketing we've seen elsewhere recently including 'ready 4 the show', 'come and meet the next galaxy' and 'be ready 4 the next Galaxy'.

The constant use of the number four suggests Samsung will drop the roman numerals system, so it will be the Galaxy S4 rather than the Galaxy S IV. It will succeed the popular Galaxy S3 which has sold over 40 million units worldwide.

Interestingly, the countdown timer also says 'Samsung Unpacked 2013 Episode 1'. This strongly hints that the Galaxy S4 isn't the only big announcement that Samsung will make this year.

Episode 2 will most likely occur later in the year and be the Unpacked event for the Galaxy Note 3 phablet. Rumoured specifications for the Galaxy Note 3 include a 5.9in Super AMOLED screen and the Exynos 5 Octa processor which is expected to arrive with the Galaxy S4.

We're just under seven days away from the Galaxy S4 reveal so be sure to join us next Thursday, 14 March, for all the Galaxy S4 pictures, news, specs and release date.
