Nexus 4 status changes to 'temporarily out of stock' on Google Play Store
Google has changed the status of the Nexus 4 on the Play Store suggesting more stock is on the way.
Since launching in November the Nexus 4 smartphone has only been on sale for a matter of days. After being out of stock since the beginning of January there are signs that the Nexus 4 could go back on sale at any moment. See also: Google Nexus 4 launches on Virgin Mobile
Instead of the regular Sold out' message displayed in red capital letter, the Google Play Store states that the device is only 'Temporarily out of stock'. The message is being displayed on both the 8GB and 16GB models of the Nexus 4.
Our advice is to keep a sharp eye on the page as the Nexus 4 could go back on sale at any moment, possibly even today. The 8GB model retails for a bargain £239 and the 16GB version just £279.
Google apologised for Nexus 4 stock shortages blaming its manufacturing partner LG for not making enough units. LG denied these claims saying it made exactly how many Google requested and that the firm miscalculated demand for the smartphone which has been 10 times higher than expected in the UK and Germany.
LG confirmed it would ramp up production of the Nexus 4 in February. The status change on the Google Play Store is a good sign for anyone who hasn't managed to get a Nexus 4 so far. When it will go back on sale and how much stock will be available remains a mystery.
The Nexus 10 tablet, made by Samsung, went back on sale last week and is now out of stock of the 32GB model.
