LG to up Nexus 4 production in February

Nexus 4 demand 10 times higher than expected

Google Nexus 4 sold out

LG will increase production of the Google Nexus 4 smartphone after higher than expected demand.

After being blamed for a lack of stock and rumours of halting Nexus 4 production altogether, LG has spoken on the subject in an interview with Challenges. Cathy Robin, director LG Mobile France, said the issues with the device are not all down LG. See also: Google Nexus 4 launches on Virgin Mobile

The firm simply made how many Google told it to. "Current deliveries of LG Google correspond to what had been pre-ordered on Google Play. We continue to deliver regularly." said Robin.

Robin squashed the rumour that Nexus 4 production would stop altogether saying, in fact, that it would increase from mid-February. She said Google's anticipation for the popularity of the Nexus 4 was off the mark since they were based on previous Nexus devices such as the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S. Google apparently didn't think consumers would want a smartphone at about half the price it should cost based on its specifications. You would have though the Nexus 4 selling out within an hour of going on sale would be some kind of clue.

Demand for the smartphone in the UK has been 10 times higher than expected in the UK and Germany. Reacting to this is difficult, according to Robin, since it takes six weeks to increase the frequency of deliveries. Best apps for Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 is still out of stock on the Google Play Store at the time of writing but this will hopefully change sooner rather than later as we approach MWC where the rumoured Nexus 5 could be unveiled.
