Great apps for your new iOS device

Maybe a friend or relation gave you the gift of a new iPhone or iPad this holiday season, in which case you are a fortunate person. Perhaps you were the one who gave the gift of a new iOS device, in which case you are a generous soul. But what apps should go on that new iOS device? Well, that's where we come in.

I've convened a panel of app experts--Leah Yamshon, Lex Friedman, and Armando Rodriguez--to share our favorite apps and our recommendations for newly minted iOS device owners. We also spend some time talking about our recently awarded App Gems Awards, which represent our picks for the top mobile offerings of 2012.
