Dan Cobley, managing director of Google UK & Ireland responded to comments on his Google+ page surrounding the Nexus 4 shortages and shipping problems.
"I know that what you are going through is unacceptable and we are all working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue. Supplies from the manufacturer are scarce, and our communication has been flawed. I can offer an unreserved apology for our service and communication failures in this process." said Cobley.
He said that users who originally received a 3-5 day shipping estimate will have orders processed for fulfilment and they will be given a credit for the shipping charges. Orders estimated for pre-christmas shipping will be processed this week, according to Cobley.
"I realise that the people who ordered the Nexus 4 so early are among our most committed and loyal users and we are doing all we can to put things right." added Cobley.
Although an apology and some refunded shipping charges is nice, it doesn't change the fact that the Nexus 4 is still out of stock on the Google Play Store, as is the Nexus 10 tablet. It's a shame that Google's executives can't give an estimate of when the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 will be available again.
The Nexus 10 is not on sale anywhere other than Google and while the Nexus 4 is available from mobile operators such as O2 and Three, the pricing is far less attractive than Google's.
