Motorola has announced that some of its smartphones will receive and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

Motorola is rolling out a software update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its Razr smartphones. The Razr HD is currently getting the latest Google operating system and the Razr i will get the update in the first quarter of 2013.

Motorola said: "We know you value having the latest and greatest technology on your device. We are working very closely with Google and our carrier partners to bring you the best possible experience on each of our Android-powered devices. This means ensuring that all upgrades and updates enhance device functionality and provide an overall improved experience."

The smartphone maker, now owned by Google, said that its Razr and Razr Maxx will be updated to Jelly Bean in selected countries and mobile operators. However, no details have been announced on which ones or when it will happen.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will bring a few new features to the handsets including Google Now, expandable notifications and a new camera app. However, the latest version of Android is now 4.2.
