Apple updates iOS Remote app and Apple TV to bring iTunes 11 compatibility

Updated interfaces match with Apple's new iTunes in Remote 3.0 and Apple TV 5.1.1

Apple has updated its iOS Remote app and Apple TV software to bring them in line with its newly launched iTunes 11.

The iOS Remote app, which allows users to use an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to control iTunes on a Mac, PC or Apple TV, now has a simpler interface similar to the redesigned iTunes 11, as well as new ways to browse your library and see upcoming songs with Up Next. It also has an improved search that shows real-time results as you type.

Version 3.0 for the iPad also has an Expanded view feature that shows you all of the songs in an album.

The Apple TV 5.1.1 updates brings full support for iTunes 11 to the second and third generation models of the device.

Apple lists the changes in the update as:

"Adds support for Up Next with iTunes 11 or iTunes Match. See upcoming songs when playing music on your Apple TV. Add new songs and edit what's queued with your Remote or with the Remote app."

"Includes performance and stability improvements with the iTunes Store, AirPlay, Netflix, iTunes Match, and wired Ethernet connections."

5.1.1 is available to download directly from your Apple TV via an over the air update.
