Samsung sells 5 million Galaxy Note 2s

Shifts Galaxy Note II to sellers rather than end-users

Samsung Galaxy Note II

Samsung has announced that it has sold a total of five million units of its Galaxy Note 2 smartphone and tablet hybrid.

The large screen Galaxy Note II Android smartphone meets tablet has sold over five million units since its launch at the beginning of October. However, going by Samsung's usual way of releasing figures this isn't actually how many have been sold to end users, just to retailers. Group test: What's the best smartphone?

The Galaxy Note II, with its 5.5in display, is expected to sell 20 million units, according to The Next Web. This total would be double that of the original Galaxy Note.

Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone has sold 30 million units since it launched earlier this year. However, sights are already set on what the Galaxy S4 will bring with it. The latest rumours include a 5in full HD screen and a 13Mp camera.

For comparison Apple sold, to actual end-user customers, a total of five million iPhone 5 units over its first weekend on sale.
