Telstra mag hits Apple/Android app stores

Telecommunications provider, Telstra, has launched a small and medium business (SMB) magazine which will focus on the issues, challenges and personal business stories of local enterprises. The Smarter Business Ideas magazine is available as a free download in a tablet app format for Apple's iOS platform and the Android Jelly Bean, Ice-cream Sandwich, and Honeycomb 3.2+ platforms.

Telstra business group managing director, Will Irving, said that research shows that more than 40 per cent of SMB owners spend quarter of their time out of office, and 46 per cent are more likely to allow staff to work remotely with the advent of higher speed mobile broadband.

In addition, 15 per cent of Australian use tablet devices, with predictions this will double by the end of 2013.

"Telstra is investing in the roll-out of... [its] 4G LTE mobile network so it's the perfect time for us to leverage our content across a medium that complements business people's lifestyle," Irving said.

"The magazine is unique in the Australian business publishing environment, exclusively featuring Australian content focusing on the issues, challenges and personal business stories of local enterprise. With the launch of the app, we are putting exclusively Australian material at the fingertips of busy business professionals."

Smarter Business Ideas is built on Adobe's digital publishing suite enterprise edition. It will offer a range of visual content, including embedded video case studies of business people sharing their learnings and winning ways, technology 'how to' guides, reviews, and trends.

Telstra confirmed that it will continue to provide the printed edition of the magazine, and include a VIEWA augmented reality app to give readers access to digital content.
