Google offers antenna-gate Bumper-style case for Nexus 4

Case is remarkably like Apple's Bumper case, given away to appease customers struck by antenna-gate

The Bumper is probably a product Apple would rather forget - it was a 'case' that wrapped around the edge of the iPhone 4, neither protecting the back or front, but serving, it later emerged, as a way to protect the antenna from the interference caused by your sweaty hands. Apple ended up giving away the case in an attempt to appease customers who had bought the iPhone 4 and found that cellular reception could be affected by the way you held the phone.

Years after antenna-gate, Google has launched their own Bumper-style case for the Nexus 4. The company isn't even trying to hide the fact that Apple was its inspiration: the case is called the Nexus 4 Bumper.

It's an odd move that may suggest to some that the Nexus 4 has its own antenna issues. Whatever reason Google has for releasing a bumper-style case, it's pretty ineffective as a case, as we said when Apple launched their version.

Google's Bumper costs $20.
