Vodafone launches Red Hot plan for smartphone rental

Vodafone has announced its Red Hot tariff allowing customers to rent a smartphone and upgrade annually.

Vodafone's Red Hot smartphone tariff is a one year contract where the handset is rented meaning users can upgrade to the latest devices annually. Red Hot starts at £47 per month for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

At launch, the iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note 2 are available on Red Hot starting at £59 and £52 per month respectively. New Vodafone customers can Red Hot or existing customers who are due an upgrade.

Srini Gopalan, consumer director at Vodafone, said: "We’ve been working incredibly hard to simplify the price plans we offer to customers. Vodafone Red Hot marks another way for customers to stay one step ahead of their friends, having the latest technology in their hands."

The 12 month Red Hot plan includes unlimited text messages, unlimited calls to mobile and landlines plus 2GB internet allowance. The deal also includes insurance, a screen protector and a personalised phone case.

Vodafone said at the end of the contract users can choose to upgrade to the latest smartphone or extend the contract until a certain smartphone is launched. There's no upfront cost to pay, but only if you stick to the 16GB models of devices.
