Apple updates iOS App Store to provide promotion for more third-party apps

The tweaked interface now has featured apps, banners and promos for all app categories

Apple has updated the iOS App Store's user interface to include a featured apps section and additional banners for all categories.

The changes follow Apple's App Store refresh with iOS 6, which saw the app get a new user interface incorporating elements of the search engine Chomp, a company acquired by Apple in February.

The new featured app carousel, banners and other promotions appears on every category page rather than just the homepage like they did previously, a nice looking touch to help users find recommended apps within specific sections of the App Store.

The changes could also help more third-party developers get exposure for their apps, a welcome improvement for many following complaints that Apple's new iOS App Store user interface means users can only see a limited amount of apps at a time, leaving some developers with apps that don't rank at the top of search results struggling for downloads.
