Apple delays Australian turn-by-turn navigation in iOS 6 Maps

No turn-by-turn Down Under until November

Apple has delayed the launch of turn-by-turn navigation in Australia.

The new feature, which came to Apple's mobile devices with the launch of the company's own mapping service in iOS 6, has launched in many other countries including the US and UK, but Apple's website is now showing a November launch date for Oz.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak won't be relying on his iPhone to get him around when he moves to Australia, then.

The delay could be linked to the iOS 6 Maps problems that were highlighted when Apple released the service to the public in September. It was met by wide criticism, and lead CEO Tim Cook to post a public apology about Maps on Apple's website, suggesting that customers use alternatives such as Google's web app while Apple improves its offering.

There also appears to be a delay in launching iTunes 11, which the company promised would arrive in October. We're rapidly running out of time, will Apple launch the redesigned software by tomorrow?

Cook has also revealed that customers should expect delays for the new thinner iMacs, and iPad mini shipping times have been delayed.
