Apple advises users to 'get ready for the new iTunes' ahead of tonight's event

iTunes 11 is expected to become available following the special event today

Apple has advised its customers to 'get ready for the new iTunes' in a blog post on its 'Inside iTunes' page, recommending that users find artwork for all of their music in preparation for the 'highly visual' iTunes 11.

iTunes 11 was unveiled alongside the iPhone 5 on 12 September, and Apple said that the update would be available in October. The new blog hints that tonight's special event could see the release of the new update, alongside the rumoured smaller iPad and maybe a 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display and new iMacs.

Apple's 'Get ready for the new iTunes' article advises users to use the Get Album Artwork command in the Advanced menu of iTunes to make sure all tracks have up to date album art. "The new highly visual approach to browsing through both your library and the iTunes Store leverages the memorability of images while presenting your choices quickly and fluidly," Apple writes about its redesign.

Apple also suggests that users should use the Display Duplicates command in the File menu to find and delete tracks with multiple copies in the iTunes library.
