Google+ hints at multiple Nexus smartphones

Sony and LG among the contenders for Nexus smartphones

Google Android event

A Google+ page has strongly suggested Google will reveal multiple Nexus smartphones on 29 October.

The message on Google+ states that the current device, the Galaxy Nexus, will soon meet its 'younger brother(s)'. Google is holding the Android event on 29 October, the same day as Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 launch.

"October 29th. The game is on ladies and gentlemen. Happy birthday Galaxy Nexus, you were born one year ago, on October 19th. Soon you are going to meet your younger brother(s) ;)" said the Galaxy Nexus fan page.

Sony Nexus X

The Galaxy Nexus was made by Samsung but the rumoured device which Google will announce come from LG and Sony. Pictures and specifications regarding both the handsets have been leaked online.

Sony's device has been dubbed the Nexus X while the LG is called the Optimus G Nexus, or Nexus 4. Google is likely to unveil a new version of Android too, although it's more likely to be 4.2 Jelly Bean than 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

It's also likely that Google will announce the 32GB model of its Nexus 7 tablet which Argos leaked via its Christmas gift guide.
