Sony is rumoured to be partnering with Google to make the next Nexus smartphone, called the Nexus X.

The Sony Nexus X has been leaked online and is tipped to be the next Google Nexus smartphone. This news clashes with the fact the LG Optimus G Nexus, or Nexus 4 was also leaked and thought to be the upcoming device. Read: Group test: what's the best smartphone?

There's little to be said about the Sony device apart from that it clearly has a lack of Xperia branding and a big fat Google logo on the back. It's possible but seems unlikely that Google would announce multiple devices from different partners.

It is thought that Google will unveil the next Nexus device on 29 October, the same day which Microsoft launches Windows Phone 8.

Since Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was announced with the Nexus 7 earlier this year, the next Nexus smartphone will run version 4.2 of Jelly Bean rather than 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
