4G smartphones go on sale today

EE releases handsets ahead of 4G network

EE 4G smartphones and devices

EE, formally Everything Everywhere, has announced that 4G capable smartphones have gone on sale today.

The latest 4G ready handsets are now available to buy online and in Orange and T-Mobile stores. Until now the iPhone 5 was the only UK 4G smartphone available but is joined by devices from Samsung, HTC and Huawei. See also: EE 4G in the UK: what you need to know.

Pippa Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer, EE said: "We’re delighted to now be offering our customers a range of 4G ready smartphones to choose from. Not only can they use their phones straight away on the UK’s biggest 3G network, but they can also have the opportunity to be amongst the first to benefit from superfast 4G mobile speeds when we launch our EE brand."

From today, customers can choose from the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE. Also added to the list of 4G capable smartphones is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE. There's no word on when the Nokia Lumia 920 LTE and Lumia 820 LTE will be released.

EE hasn't launched its 4G network to the public yet but will be doing so in the 'coming weeks'. Customers will be able to easily upgrade from their Orange of T-Mobile plans, using 3G until the switch.
