HTC's Windows Phone 8X smartphone will launch on 8 November.

Online retailer Amazon has revealed that the Windows Phone 8X smartphone by HTC will be released on 8 November. HTC's first flagship Windows Phone 8 handset is up for pre-order for £399.

The 8X has a 4.3in (720 x 1280) display and had an 8Mp camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 16GB of internal storage. A smaller and cheaper version, called the Windows Phone 8S will also be available.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC said: "We’ve been inspired by Windows Phone 8 to create new smartphones that give the platform the iconic design and personality it deserves.

The Windows Phone 8X is available from Amazon in two colours: Blue and Black. The smartphone will go up against Nokia's upcoming flagship Lumia 920.
