Research in Motion (RIM) has confirmed that its BlackBerry service is down in the UK. Updated 21/09/12
Angers more BlackBerry users with outage
As Apple launches its iPhone 5 today, it's another round of bad news for the Canadian smartphone maker as it once again suffers from technical problems. It is not known how many but users are experiencing problems using their BlackBerry handsets.

RIM said on Twitter: "Some users in Europe, Middle East & Africa are experiencing issues with their BlackBerry service."
We are investigating and apologise for any inconvenience.

Vodafone has confirmed that the outage is a 'RIM issue and is affecting all devices across all networks.'
Last October, millions of BlackBerry users were hit by a service outage which lasted a total of 19 hours leaving customers outraged. It caused many users to proclaim on social networks like Twitter they would move away to rival devices.
How many lives does the Canadian cat have left? We're not sure but it can't be very many. The firm will be crossing its fingers that its BlackBerry 10 operating system is its saving grace.
Update
RIM has issued the following statement confirming that the service has been restored.
"Our apologies to any customers impacted by the BlackBerry service issue today. We can confirm that services have been restored and are now operating normally."
