Galaxy Note 2 set to be released ahead of Apple iPhone 5

Samsung has confirmed it will unveil its Galaxy Note 2 on 29 August.

Samsung Unpacked Galaxy Note 2

"We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29," a Samsung spokesman said, according to Reuters.

Rumour has is that the Galaxy Note 2 will use a larger screen than the original's, with 5.5in touted compared to 5.3in. One rumour suggests the Android device will come with an unbreakable plane (UBP) display, a precursor to flexible screens.

Apart from the UBP screen, it will also feature longer battery life, better build quality and a quad-core processor.
