Apple's iPhone 5 will use a mini 8-pin docking connector with MagSafe technology according to the latest rumour.
Apple's mini docking connector for iPhone 5 will get new name
iLounge reports that the upcoming iPhone 5 will use a 8-pin port which could use a new name. This contradicts what we heard back in June about a 19-pin mini docking connector which was confirmed by three independent manufacturers.

One of the sources claims that the new port will feature a design like Apple's MagSafe which would allow the iPhone 5 to be connected in any orientation.
iLounge said: "the male connector has 8 pins on each side, while the female connector has only 8 pins on one side. This enables the iPhone/iPod/iPad (with female port) to connect to either side of a male cable or docking plug."
Many of the leaked images of the iPhone 5 have featured a smaller docking connector. If the latest whisper is to be believed, the iPhone 5 will be announced on 12 September along with an iPad Mini. However, another source said it will arrive in just a few days on 7 August.
