Virgin Media launches unlimited data tariff

Virgin Media takes unlimited data to the competition with Premiere tariff

Virgin Media has announced its Premiere tariff with unlimited mobile internet data for smartphones.

The mobile operator is upping the game to rivals by lowering the price of an unlimited data tariff. Its Premiere tariff starts at £21 per month for Virgin Media customers and combines unlimited data, text messages, calls to UK landlines and 2,500 anytime minutes.

Jamie Heywood, director of mobile at Virgin Media said: "When we launched over ten years ago as the world's first mobile company of its type, we revolutionised the market, and this is another such landmark. As people look for the best value, we’re rewarding loyalty with some amazing tariffs with unlimited offerings that our customers can enjoy without worrying about hidden extras, as well as helping to combat bill shock."

Virgin Media has undercut rivals such as T-Mobile and Three which offer The Full Monty for £36 per month and The One Plan for £36 per month, respectively. A SIM-only version of the Premiere tariff will start at £20 per month.

Customers will be subject to a 24 month contract and will include insurance and Mobile Rescue backup worth £7.99 for free. Users will also continue to get free access to the London Underground Wi-Fi after the summer.
