LG Optimus L5 finally gets a release date

LG has announced its L5 smartphone will launch globally this month.

The middle of the range of LG's L-Style smartphone will launch initially in the UK, Germany and France. LG hasn't announced a price but online retails have the device pegged at £199. See also: LG L3 review.

"The LG Optimus L5 is a very balanced smartphone that offers a great combination of design, display, performance, battery life and price that many will find very attractive," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Mobile.

"This device, along with other products in our L-Series portfolio, will especially appeal to fashion forward users everywhere."

The L5 is powered by an 800MHz Cortex A5 processor and a 4in HVGA touchscreen with a 320 x 480 resolution. The handset will be released with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a near-field communications (NFC) chip.

LG said it comes with a new user experience with QuickMemo for, er, taking memos or notes from any screen.
