The Pebble Blue Samsung Galaxy S3 finally has a UK release date, following delays caused by the smartphone’s 'hyperglaze' coating, or should that be "Metallic Blue"?
Blue Samsung Galaxy S3: Pebble or Metallic?
The blue Galaxy S3 will now launch in the UK on June 22, according to Samsung's flagship store. See also: Samsung Galaxy S3 UK price and release round-up.
Others are reporting that this colour S3 model might not be the Pebble Blue first shown at the smartphone’s May launch in London. The manufacturing problems might have forced Samsung into producing a “Metallic Blue” version rather than the fancied Pebble Blue.
The much-hyped, eagerly anticipated S III Android smartphone is also available in Marble White.
The Inquirer reports that customers who pre-ordered the Pebble Blue Samsung Galaxy S3 will receive their new Android smartphones through the post while limited numbers will be available in stores “in a few weeks”.
Samsung Galaxy S3 video review
At the end of May Samsung explained the Pebble Blue Galaxy S3 delay: "Samsung's Galaxy S III Pebble Blue version comes with a newly invented blue colour and special hyperglaze material.
"In order to meet the highest internal quality standards and to provide the best quality Galaxy S III to customers, a short supply of Pebble Blue version is expected in some regions in the next 2-3 weeks.
"Samsung is working hard to ensure that customers will get the Pebble Blue coloured devices as soon as possible."
The new Android smartphone was launched in May in the UK. Samsung said earlier this month that the Galaxy S III will be available in the US starting this month from five carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and US Cellular.
However, another problem Samsung has in front of it is Apple's bid to ban all models of the Galaxy S3 from sale in the US.
