Apple job openings add evidence to new dock connector for next iPhone

Apple is looking for Connector Design Engineers to work on 'completely new designs'

Apple job openings for Connector Design Engineers have been discovered, suggesting that the company is planning to do away with their current 30-pin Dock Connector.

TechCrunch uncovered the job openings on Wednesday, noting that the Connector Design Engineer will be "responsible for managing multiple connector designs and developments in support of the iPod product lines," according to the Job description.

The description goes on to say that the job will "interfacing with connector suppliers to direct and implement the necessary design changes or creation of completely new designs will also be a major part of your daily work."

An almost identical job is listed alongside the aforementioned position.

Speculation about a smaller dock connector for iOS devices has been circulating for some time. Most recently, components of what appears to be a taller iPhone with a smaller dock connector were leaked.
