Nokia has reportedly made more money from Apple's iPhone than its own range of Lumia smartphones.
According to AppleInsider, Nokia has made more income from licensing patents used in the iPhone than selling its Windows Phone-based Lumia devices. The firm reported a loss of $1.7bn for the first quarter but managed to collect $600m from Apple.
It's more bad news for Nokia after ISH iSuppli announced today that Samsung has taken its top mobile vendor crown in terms of units shipped in the first quarter of this year.
If it can't reverse its fortunes selling Windows Phone 7-based Lumia phones, Nokia is likely to convert itself into a non-practicing entity going after other smartphone makers, or it may choose to sell its broad patent portfolio to another firm, potentially including Microsoft itself." said AppleInsider.
Nokia will be hoping to turn its fortunes around with the UK launch of the Lumia 900. The release date has been pushed back a couple of weeks due to 14 May due to high demand in the US.
