EA reveals game plans for Apple’s new iPad

Mass Effect Infiltrator and Real Racing 2 among the games EA is currently working on

Following Apple's announcement that the new iPad has Retina display with over 3.1 million pixels, EA has revealed that it is busy working on its best selling apps, such as Mass Effect Infiltrator and Real Racing 2, to take advantage of the higher resolution.

"Apple is once again pushing the boundaries forward and as a developer and publisher, we thrive on that opportunity," Nick Earl, SVP of Global Mobile and Social Studios at Electronic Arts told Macworld.

"We're already working on versions of Mass Effect Infiltrator and Real Racing 2 among other games that will take full advantage of the new iPad's capabilities-expect even more stunning graphics and intense action."

Mass Effect Infiltrator, released 6 March, is currently Apple's iPad Game of the Week, and is number 10 in the Top Paid iPad Apps chart.

Apple has also been working on its apps, rolling out updates that add Retina display support in preparation for the new iPad's launch on 16 March.

Apple announced its third-generation iPad on 7 March, which, alongside its 2048-by-1536 pixel screen resolution, also has a 5-megapixel camera, a new, dual-core A5X chip with a quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU), 4G LTE support (although this is currently redundant in the UK), Voice Dictation and more.
