Samsung introduces new smartphones and tablets

Samsung introduced a number of new products at Mobile World Congress this week. The Galaxy Note smartphone tablet hybrid got a big brother with a 10.1-inch screen. Like its smaller sibling it can be used with touch or a stylus that Samsung calls the S Pen. It has a 1.4 ghz dual core processor and runs Android 4.0.

With the introduction of the Galaxy Note 10.1, it appears that Samsung is serious about stylus driven devices. Many thought the 5-inch model was an experiment, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The company also added a second tablet to a new Galaxy Tab 2 family of low cost devices. The Galaxy Tab 2 has a 10.1 inch screen and will run Android 4.0, just like the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

The Galaxy Beam smartphone has a built in projector that can project a 50-inch image. It’s a new take on an older product that came out in 2010. In a dark room the images from the projector appeared relatively clear. While the phone can shoot HD video, it can only project at one ninth that resolution. The phone will start shipping in Europe in July.
