Verizon kicks off online orders for Droid Razr on Thursday

Deliveries promised by Nov. 10

Online orders for the $299.99 Droid Razr will start at 8 a.m. ET on Thursday, and Verizon Wireless promised the devices ordered online will ship no later than Nov. 10.

The thin 4G LTE smartphone was announced Oct. 18 by Motorola Mobility. Verizon still has not listed a date for general in-store availability. Online pre-orders can be made at the Verizon Droid website . A two-year service agreement and data plan are required.

Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha emphasized the sleek look of the thin device when it was announced, and made some comparisons to the iPhone 4S. He said the Razr has a larger screen than the iPhone (4.3 inches vs. 3.5 inches) even though the Razr, at 4.48 ounces, is almost half an ounce lighter. The smartphone has the Android 2.3.5, or Gingerbread, mobile operating system.
