Macworld editor Karen Haslam and iPad & iPhone User editor David Price were up at the crack of dawn this morning to catch the crowds of fans queuing outside the London Apple Stores to buy an iPhone 4S.
We spoke to a number of people in the queues outside both stores, including Craig Fox and Daniel James, who had queued outside the Regent Street store for 160 hours. They held the first and second place positions outside the store.
Michael Roberts, in third place, and having been outside the Regent Street store since Sunday night, told us: "I'm emotionally drained", describing the experience of queuing outside the store.
Also near the front of the queue was Orla, originally from Belarus, she'd been waiting outside the Regent Street store for two days. This was the first time she had ever queued up and she told us about how local businesses had been providing access to toilets and giving them free drinks.
Over at the Covent Garden store we spoke to Rob Shoesmith, who had been waiting outside for ten days. Shoesmith spoke to us about what it was like to find out about the death of Steve Jobs while camping outside the store. "I found out about half four in the morning when the tributes started coming in," he told us, "it was not very nice news at all".
