Apple Store staff begin iOS 5, iCloud training

Report claims iPhone 5 launch could be imminent

Apple Store staff are being trained on iOS 5 and iCloud, according to a report, suggesting that the launch of the iPhone 5 could be a matter of days away.

9to5Mac claims that sources have revealed that Apple is training staff in its retail stores about iOS 5 and iCloud, something that it generally only does a couple of weeks before a launch.

As the iPhone 5 and iOS 5 are likely to be launched together, and full iCloud compatibility only in iOS 5, this is a good sign that the iPhone 5 launch is just around the corner, 9to5Mac says. Pre-orders are likely to begin in late September, according to the report.

Other evidence that an early October launch for the iPhone 5, at least in the US, has cropped up in recent days. Firstly, a leaked Best Buy document suggests that the launch will happen in the first week of October emerged, as well as reports from China that Foxconn and Pegatron are beginning to assemble the iPhone 5, even if they aren't boxing the units yet as iOS 5 isn't ready to install.
