Apple releases iOS 5 beta 7 to devs

Along with a new Xcode 4.2 Preview 7, iTunes 10.5 beta 7, and Apple TV software beta 6

Apple has released the seventh beta version of iOS 5 to developers.

It is available as an over the air update through Settings, Software Update on devices that are already running the iOS 5 beta. You should back up your device using iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or iCloud backup before installing the update, Apple recommends.

According to Apple Insider, iOS 5 beta 7 focuses on support for iCloud and introduces a new API validation feature which should help developers make the process of getting apps approved for the App Store more efficient.

As well as the iOS 5 beta 7, Apple also released a number of other betas for developers, including new betas of Xcode 4.2, iTunes 10.5 and Apple TV software.

iOS 5 beta 7 comes less than two weeks after iOS 5 beta 6 was released to developers. iOS 5 is expected to launch some time this autumn, perhaps even this month, alongside the iPhone 5 and iCloud.
