'iPhone 5 production line' images emerge

Pictures show Wintek workers handling display components

A photograph that allegedly shows a production line at iPhone component supplier Wintek has emerged on the web.

The workers pictured in the snaps, which were discovered by Vietnamese website Tinhte, appear to be handling display components and it is claimed that the parts in question belong to the iPhone 5.

Though the pictures don't show any components close up, there are one or two details that can be made out which would appear to be consistent with other reports we've heard about the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 launch coming 7 October - report

For a start, the home button appears to have been elongated, which matches up with some designs that Chinese case manufacturers are working on. The elongated home button could be to support left- and right-swiping gestures.

Also, it looks as if the screen could be edge-to-edge, or certainly wider than the screens on previous models. However, it is difficult to make comparisons on the basis of these images alone.
