Google: 130 million devices worldwide run Android

Activations surge to 550,000 per day

Google has revealed there 130 million devices running its Android platform around the world.

At its I/O event in May this year, the search engine announced more than 100 million Google Android devices had been sold worldwide, which means some 30 million have been sold in the past two months alone.

Furthermore, Google says 550,000 Android devices are being activated every day, compared to 400,000 per day in May this year.

However, Apple remains top after it was revealed at WWDC 200 million iOS devices had been sold.
