Samsung Galaxy S2 is 'UK's favourite smartphone'

Beats Apple iPhone in HTC-dominated chart

According to online comparison and switching service uSwitch the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the most popular phone in the United Kingdom, beating even Apple's iconic Apple iPhone 4 handset for the second consecutive month. See also Samsung Galaxy S3 review.

Based on uSwitch's own sales data HTC makes six of the top 10 most popular mobile phones across the UK, but can't dislodge Samsung and Apple from the top two spots. The BlackBerry Curve and Samsung Galaxy S round out the list, which reads thus:

  1. Samsung Galaxy S2
  2. Apple iPhone 4
  3. HTC Sensation
  4. HTC Desire
  5. BlackBerry Curve 8520
  6. Samsung Galaxy S
  7. HTC Wildfire
  8. HTC Desire S
  9. HTC Wildfire S
  10. HTC Desire HD

Responding to the figures, Ernest Doku of uSwitch said: "Samsung can’t rest on its laurels though. The influx of feature-rich phones like the HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D, both introducing a unique glasses-free 3D viewing experience, could seriously shake things up this summer." He predicted that the launch of the Apple iPhone 5 - expected in September or October - would shake things up further. See PC Advisor's own 'Group test: what's the best smartphone?' for our editors' take on the greatest handsets around. Go to Samsung Galaxy S3 specs and pictures.
