Friends Aloud iOS app brings Facebook to your ears

Like Google before it, Facebook has been striving to be all things to all people: an e-mail service, a newspaper, even a place to share videos. But it hasn't been a radio station--until now.

Friends Aloud, a new iPhone app from from VoizApp, changes that. The app reads your Facebook feed to you in the voice of a young woman, letting you catch up on social networking while driving or doing other tasks. (See the video below for a demonstration.)

The app can continue reading from your newsfeed while in the background. It's also customizable, muting posts from friends you'd prefer to skip, and giving you the option of reading up to 50 comments on a post. The headlines of links, photos, and videos are also read out loud.

Friends Aloud costs $3--a lite version of the app contains advertising and is limited to reading 10 newsfeed posts at a time--and is compatible with devices running iOS 3.1.3 or later.
