Elgato's EyeTV app for iOS gets an update

Version 1.2.3 adds support for AirPlay when connected to EyeTV running on a Mac

Elgato has released version 1.2.3 of its EyeTV app for iOS, adding support for AirPlay when connected to EyeTV running on a Mac and promising smoother audio transitions when changing channels.

The first version of the app was launched in September 2009. It lets Elgato EyeTV users view TV recordings wherever they are, and provides on-the-go control over remote recording, scheduling and a TV guide.

Version 1.2.3 now supports AirPlay when connected to EyeTV running on a Mac, for both live TV and recordings. This means you can stream your TV recordings to your Apple TV (second-generation only) using your iPad, whereas before you would have had to add the recordings to iTunes.

You can download the updated app from iTunes now. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 3.1.2 or higher. It costs £2.99 in the UK and $4.99 in the US. You will also require an EyeTV tuner.
