In pictures: Mozilla's Seabird concept phone

The underlying concepts are a wonder

Working directly from community feedback, designer Billy Mays produced his concept smartphone, Seabird. Here's a visual tour.

One of the hottest concept phones to be unveiled recently hasn't come from HTC or any other smartphone manufacturer, for that matter.

The Seabird was developed by a designer Billy May in his spare time as part of a Mozilla Labs project.

The smartphone might never be produced. But the underlying concepts in the device - and inside May's head - are a wonder, nonetheless. We took a visual tour around the Mozilla Seabird.

Mozilla smartphone: Experiment

The Mozilla Seabird, part of the Mozilla Labs' Concept Series, is an experiment in how users might interact with their mobile content as devices and technology advances," May says.

Mozilla smartphone: Interaction

The Seabird "introduces a few possibilities into how user interaction might evolve with the advancing motion capture and projector driven innovation in the market". For example, a multi-use dongle might "augment the crowded gestural interface with greater precision and direct manipulation of content in 3D space."
