O2 offering the Dell Streak from early June

Mobile network yet to reveal pricing for Dell's handset

O2 has revealed it will offer the Dell Streak handheld computer from early June.

The Dell Streak is a Google Android-based device that Dell showed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

Not to be confused with Dell's Mini 3 smartphone that's on sale in a few emerging markets, the Streak has a larger, 5in touchscreen and looks like an iPhone but bigger.

It has two cameras: a webcam in the front that could potentially be used for videoconferencing, and a 5Mp camera on the back with dual LED flash.

The smartphone also has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and support for micro SD cards up to 32GB. It will operate over both Wi-Fi and mobile networks.

Dell has also referred to it in the past as the Mini 5.

"The Dell Streak is a bold new class of product, something we wanted to bring to our customers first," said Steve Alder, O2's general manager of devices.

"This means we can continue to offer our customers a range of the very best devices to make their lives a bit easier."

O2 has yet to reveal an exact release date or pricing and tariff information for the handset, which will be available online from O2 and the Carphone Warehouse, as well as in O2 stores.
