BBC iPlayer comes to BlackBerry

BlackBerry Bold 2 & Storm 2 first to get access

Blackberry owners can now watch the BBC's catch-up TV service, iPlayer, on their handsets.

BlackBerry Bold 2 and BlackBerry Storm 2 owners can stream TV and radio shows available via the service. However, unless you're on Vodafone or 3 (the only two networks to offer 3G support for the iPlayer), you'll need to use the handset's Wi-Fi connection.

BlackBerry owners don't need to download an app, instead they can view iPlayer from their handset's browser.

Sadly, unlike on Nokias, Samsungs and Sony Ericssons, there's no option to download the programmes onto the phone.

The news comes just a week after the BBC announced the iPlayer received more than 120 million TV and radio programme download requests in January this year.
