UK Apple Store offline due to 3G iPhone launch?

WWDC: Steve Jobs keynote imminent

Steve Jobs takes to the stage at Apple's Worldwide Developers' conference today at 6pm UK time, with many analysts expecting the official announcement of the highly anticipated 3G iPhone.

Adding to the sense of expectation that always precedes Jobs' keynotes, Apple has taken its UK store offline this afternoon, indicating that a product that will be announced in San Francisco in the next hour could become available on this side of the Atlantic immediately.

"We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly," says a note on the UK Apple Store.
