RIM's 'Meteor' 3G BlackBerry delayed

Concerns over new BlackBerry's call quality

The launch of the new 3G BlackBerry has been delayed, according to reports.

US magazine Fortune claims on its website that the device won't be available in the US until August following concerns from operator AT&T regarding call quality.

The website also speculated on the name of the device, hinting that it may be called the Meteor.

TD Newcrest analyst Chris Umiastowski told Reuters the delayed US launch may not affect Europe.

"Perhaps it will launch in Europe (with Vodafone) prior to hitting North American soil?...A launch of this upcoming 3G device either by AT&T or Vodafone should result in a significant number of hardware shipments within the first full quarter of launch."
