TomTom for iPhone hits App Store

£60 satnav software available now

TomTom's iPhone app is now available via Apple's iPhone App Store.

The satellite navigation tool for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users includes a continental map of Europe or a map of UK and Ireland from Tele Atlas, and offers TomTom's IQ Routes technology to calculate directions.

IQ Routes is based on historical speed measurements calculated from the actual experience of millions of TomTom drivers.

TomTom iPhoneTomTom says it works out the fastest route for every time of day, and in "up to 35 percent of all cases" can result in a faster route, saving travel time as well as money and fuel.

The TomTom for iPhone app also includes an extensive safety camera database including verified safety camera information in 11 European countries. This means drivers are informed ahead of time about any safety cameras on their route.

"With TomTom for iPhone, millions of iPhone users can now benefit from the same easy-to-use and intuitive interface, turn-by-turn spoken navigation and unique routing technology that our 30 million portable navigation device users rely on every day," said Corinne Vigreux, managing director of TomTom.

The TomTom app for iPhone with maps of UK & Ireland is available for £60, while the Western Europe version costs £80.
