Video: Google Android phones demoed at MWC

Texas Instruments & NEC show Android handsets

Google's Android software platform for mobile phones has made its debut on a number of devices at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

One of the more polished prototypes came from Texas Instruments, though since the company only makes chips, representatives insisted that this model is only what a finished product could look like. A product manager with TI said developing software for a new phone takes up to a year-and-a-half, but he said Android cuts that dramatically.

NEC also showed off an Android prototype along side other units running Symbian OS and Windows Mobile.
