'Dick Tracy' LG Watch phone to cost £1,000

Report: Orange gets European exclusive deal

LG's innovative 3G Watch Phone may cost as much as £1,000 when it hits the UK, according to a report from Mobile Today.

The LG's GD910 was first unveiled in concept form a year ago, but is said to be nearing release after it was demonstrated at last month's Consumer Electronics Show. Featuring both 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, the LG GD910 can be used as a standard watch, but when a call comes in, it displays the caller's details on its 1.4in screen.

The intriguing gadget is sure to excite Dick Tracy and James Bond fans, but only those with deep pockets, according to Mobile Today. The site says Orange has won a Europe-wide exclusive deal to sell the product, which it says will be available for £1,000.

Apparently, the LG Watch Phone will also be available on a contract, with users paying £500 up front, and signing up to a £40-per-month subscription.
