Video: World's first solar-powered mobile phone

Samsung and LG show off Blue Earth

Samsung and LG showed off prototype mobile phones at Mobile World Congress that can be recharged by solar panels built into the case.

Called Blue Earth, Samsung's phone has a touchscreen and according to the company, a case designed to look like a rounded pebble. The handset is made from recycled plastic and doesn't include toxics like brominated flame retardants, Beryllium and phthalates.

LG didn't release much information on its prototype but it looks to be a version of its KF750 Secret with solar cells on the rear of the case.

So will these phones mean an end to chargers?
