MSN Mobile gets music download service

Microsoft launches mobile music store

Microsoft today launched a music download service on MSN Mobile. The MSN service enables users to download pay-for videos and music tracks to their mobile phones.

MSN MobileMajor labels such as Sony and Warner support the service, and artists featured include Franz Ferdinand, Britney Spears and Pink. MSN Mobile now offers access to more than 1 million music tracks, plus 25,000 realtones and 10,000 music videos.

MSN Mobile provides email, news, search and weather, but this is the first time music has been available from the service which launched a year ago.

MSN Mobile's music service prices full tracks at £1.50, Realtones £3 and music videos £2.

Reflecting on the launch MSN Mobile UK's Hugh Griffiths told Brand Republic: "With more than 130 handsets having access to the music store from day one, this is an exciting proposition that for the first time provides consumers a network agnostic service, with a vast array of new and old music from major music labels."
