Vodafone offers £20m for navigation firm Wayfinder

Acquisition to bring direction services to handsets

Vodafone has offered 239m Swedish kronor (£19.7m) to purchase navigation software developer Wayfinder.

The 12 kroner-per-share deal would see WayFinder's local search and directions services being made available to mobile phones users.

"Wayfinder's exceptional expertise in this space and technology capabilities will enable Vodafone to develop a suite of exciting new location-aware products and services."

Vodafone confirmed Wayfinder's board, which holds 45 percent of shares, had accepted the deal.
