Microsoft jumps on alternative App store bandwagon

Skymarket follows Google's Android Market

Microsoft looks set to follow in the footsteps of Google by offering a mobile application store to rival Apple's iPhone App store.

The tech giant placed an advert on Computerjobs.com, a Seattle-based IT employment site, seeking a senior product manager for 'Skymarket'. Microsoft describes the position as "a unique opportunity and time of rapid change in the mobile industry for a senior product manager in the Mobile Communications Services team to drive the launch of a v1 marketplace service for Windows Mobile".

The advert comes in the wake of Google's Android Market, which was announced last week.
