Apple removes 'stabbing app' for iPhone

'Slasher' removed from App Store

Apple has been critisced for offering a 'stabbing game' for the iPhone in its App Store.

Slasher, which is made by a third party, plays the theme tune to the movie Pyscho and displays a cartoon image of a knife when the handset is moved in a 'stabbing' motion. Apple has now removed the app, which was available for 59p in the Entertainment section of its App Store.

However, it's unclear how the app became available, since Apple claims that every game featured on the App Store must be checked by Apple to ensure it does not infringe its terms and conditions.

The discovery comes just weeks after Facebook was forced to remove a stabbing action from its SuperPoke application.
